In an emergency, it is no good calling your tow-truck/insurance company, because in places like the Linha Vermelha, Linha Amarela, Auto-Estrada Lagoa-Barra and others, they are not authorized to come to your assistance.

To avoid being left at the mercy of the bandits, make a note of the following emergency phone numbers for Rio’s special highways, and keep the list in your car.
